The short version
The information you add is there to help your household. We do not sell it, use it for marketing, or share it with other Family Hub households.
Family Hub ("the app", "we") is a private household organizer. For privacy and support matters, contact familyhub.support@gmail.com.
Data we collect
What Family Hub stores depends on the features your household chooses to use.
- Account data. When you sign up, we store your email address, display name, and sign-in method (email and password or Google Sign-In). If you use Google Sign-In, Google provides your name, email, and profile picture according to your Google account settings.
- Household content you add. This can include shopping lists, wishlist items, chores and points, meal recipes and plans, calendar dates and reminders, document and food expiry items, loyalty-card details, household budgets and finance entries, chat messages, and member profiles.
- Google Calendar data you choose to import. If a Plus household connects Google Calendar, Family Hub requests read-only access and copies the selected calendar name and events from a rolling window of 90 days back through 365 days ahead. An imported event copy can include its title, dates and times, time zone, location and notes. Busy only replaces the source title with a generic Busy label and omits its location and notes before storage. Family Hub never creates, changes or deletes events in Google Calendar.
- Recipes you import from a link. When a Plus household imports a recipe by pasting or sharing a link, Family Hub's server fetches only that one page to read its title, ingredients and steps. The extracted recipe and the source address are stored in your household after you review and save them; the page itself is not kept, no browsing history is collected, and imports are capped per household per day.
- Schedules and children's routines. Weekly school or shift timetables you enter for household members (subjects or shifts, times, rooms, and breaks) and children's routine steps with their daily progress are stored for your household and are visible to its members, so the family can see who needs to be where.
- Medication information. If your household uses the optional medication feature, we store the medicine names, strengths, schedules, dose logs (taken, skipped, or snoozed), and supply counts that you enter. This information is never sold or used for advertising. A medicine and its dose history can be deleted in the app.
- Photos you choose to upload. Examples include loyalty-card photos and recipe covers. The camera and photo gallery are used only when you actively choose or scan something. Barcode scanning happens on your device.
- Location, only when you choose to share it. When you use the optional check-in control, Family Hub reads your device location to share that check-in with your household. The feature is off by default and does not request continuous background tracking. You can stop sharing from the app. Location is never used for advertising.
- Household chat and safety records. Chat messages include text, sender and time. A deleted message becomes a limited tombstone so the conversation remains coherent. When you report a message or a member from the chat, we store what you reported, the reason you chose and who reported it; moderation reports are deleted after 90 days. Muting a member is stored privately for you alone, and nobody else in the household can read that list.
- Google Play subscription records. For Plus, we process the product and base-plan choice, purchase token, order and subscription status, billing-period dates and a one-way hashed household binding. Google Play processes the payment method; Family Hub does not receive full card details.
- Advertising and consent signals. For eligible Free adult screens, Google Mobile Ads and its consent tooling may process consent choices, IP address, device or advertising identifiers, approximate location derived by the advertising provider, ad interactions and diagnostics. Ads are disabled until the required consent and runtime checks allow them. Household content is not sent to the ad request for targeting.
- Crash diagnostics. If the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics may send a technical report, such as device model, operating-system version, and diagnostic details, so we can investigate the problem. Google processes these reports under its service terms.
- Notification delivery data. If you enable reminders, a push-notification token for your device is stored so notifications can be delivered. On supported Android devices, exact local timing uses the optional, user-granted Alarms & reminders special access (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM). If you do not grant it or later revoke it, Family Hub uses an inexact fallback that Android may deliver later. A due alert can also take over a locked screen when you grant the separate full-screen notification access (USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT); that alarm face shows only the item and a Dismiss button, and without the access Android shows the same alert as a heads-up banner instead. Device tokens are deleted on sign-out and expire automatically after at most 60 days without renewal.
- App-protection signals. Firebase App Check sends a device-integrity token with requests to protect the service from abuse. It is not used by Family Hub for marketing.
Family Hub does not collect your contacts or browsing history. Household content is never used to target advertising.
Where your data is stored
Family Hub runs on Google Firebase (Google LLC). Household content, uploaded photos, and backend functions are configured for the European Union (Google Cloud region europe-west8, Milan, Italy). Authentication and crash reporting are global Google services. Google acts as a data processor under the Firebase privacy terms .
Selected Google Calendar events are mirrored into the household's Family Hub records so the combined calendar can load them. Google OAuth and Calendar API processing also follows Google's terms and privacy controls.
Who can see your data
- Your household. Household content is shared with its members according to the role and visibility controls available for the feature being used.
- Imported calendar visibility. An owner connects and selects calendars. Imported event details are visible to eligible adult household members who can use the combined calendar; selecting Busy only hides the source title, location and notes before the event is stored.
- The developer, when necessary. Administrative access may be used to operate the service, investigate a reported problem, or fulfil a data request. Personal data is accessed only when needed for those purposes.
- No marketing data buyers. Family Hub does not sell personal data or share it with third parties for marketing.
Google Calendar import and sync
Calendar connection is optional and available to Plus households. Family Hub asks for the read-only Google Calendar scope only; it does not ask for permission to edit calendars. Family Hub's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Only calendars selected by the connecting owner are synchronized. Imported copies are used to show events in Family Hub calendar, day and Home views. The Google event remains the source of truth and must be edited in Google Calendar.
The rolling synchronization window runs from 90 days before the current date through 365 days ahead.
Because Family Hub is a household organizer, imported details may be shared with eligible adult household members. Use Busy only for a calendar whose event details should not be shared; it masks the source title, location and notes before the copy is stored.
If Plus ends, retained copies remain viewable and removable, but no new Google synchronization occurs until Plus returns.
Disconnecting in Family Hub revokes Family Hub's Google Calendar authorization and automatically deletes its imported calendar and event copies. This never changes or deletes any event in Google Calendar. Revoking access separately in your Google Account stops Google access; use Disconnect in Family Hub to remove retained Family Hub copies.
Payments and advertising
Family Hub offers Free Starter and optional Plus Complete. Google Play processes Plus purchases; Family Hub receives the purchase identifiers and subscription status needed to provide access, not your full payment-card details.
Free may show top and feed-end banner ads on Home and every feature workspace to an adult owner, administrator, adult member or adult guest. Children never receive ads, Plus is ad-free, and full-screen ads are disabled.
Where required, Google's User Messaging Platform presents consent and privacy choices before any ad request. When Google indicates that privacy options are required, Family Hub exposes Privacy choices in Settings. Withdrawing or changing consent disposes the current banner immediately.
Family Hub does not use household, medication, Finance, chat, precise location, calendar-event or child-profile content to personalize advertising.
Household chat and reports
Chat is private to members of one household and is not a public feed. A sender may remove their own message and household administrators may moderate a message by replacing its text with a deletion marker. Each member can also mute another member for themselves, which hides that person's messages from their own view only.
Illegal, threatening, harassing, exploitative, privacy-invasive or abusive content is prohibited. Reports are reviewed by the independent developer, who may preserve necessary evidence, remove content, restrict access or close an account when reasonably required.
Report a message or a member directly from the chat. For anything the in-app report does not cover, or an urgent safety concern, email familyhub.support@gmail.com. Do not use Family Hub as an emergency service; contact local emergency services when someone is in immediate danger.
Children
Family Hub accounts should be created by adults. Children participate as household members invited and managed by adults in their household. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children outside this household setup. Child roles receive a reduced set of app capabilities, including no access to household finances.
Data retention and deletion
- You can edit or delete items you added using the controls available for that feature.
- When you leave or are removed from a household, member-specific settings and subscriptions associated with you in that household are deleted.
- A household owner can permanently delete the household in the app through Members → Delete household. This removes its household data and uploaded photos.
- You can permanently delete your account through Settings → Delete account. Read how account deletion works.
- You can also request deletion by email. We respond to deletion requests within 30 days.
- Some records clean themselves up on a schedule: chat messages after 90 days, the activity feed after 30 days, chore completion history after one year, children’s routine progress after 90 days, and moderation reports after 90 days. Finance entries, shopping history, and past reminders and dates are kept until you delete them — families expect those records to last.
- Disconnecting Google Calendar revokes Family Hub's Google authorization and automatically deletes the imported calendar and event copies stored in Family Hub, without changing or deleting source events in Google. After a Plus downgrade, retained copies remain viewable and removable but no new synchronization occurs until Plus returns.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or EEA, you may have the right to access, correct, export, and erase your personal data, and to complain to your data-protection authority. To exercise a right, email familyhub.support@gmail.com.
The household export in the app contains structured records only: photos and other uploaded files, such as loyalty-card images and recipe covers, are not included in the exported file.
For California residents: Family Hub does not sell household content. Advertising and applicable opt-out choices are available through the privacy controls in the app.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes meaningfully, we will update the effective date, publish the revised text here and provide an appropriate notice in the app or release notes.
